This ring is set with a pearl in the center that is woven in place with fine silver. It is accented on either side by white topaz stones. The silver is oxidized intentionally with a black patina to give it a dark appearance.
“I normally use so many colored gems in my work, so to participate in a monochromatic exhibition I focused on designing jewelry pieces with only white or clear stones. Normally when I apply patina to silver I will remove some of it afterward so that it is not so dark, but for this show I decided to leave it as dark as possible to create a stark contrast with the white stones.” – Jack
