White Ruffle Bowl

Availability: In stock

A bowl made from a fallen Santa Fe Elm tree, whitened with a bleaching process and with a carbonized (burned) rim.

This bowl would make a lovely centerpiece or serve as a vessel for displaying small objects. Although the finish is food-safe, it is porous and would stain easily – non recommended for use with food.

Dimensions: 12.5” Diameter x 2.25” H

Laura Yeats is a wood artist and educator based in Galisteo, NM. She relies on the fallen and salvaged trees she gathers regionally to create one of kind utilitarian bowls, sculptural forms and tree prints on paper. Whitening wood is a bleaching process that involves numerous treatments over many days. Blackening wood by burning is instantaneous. Bringing these two methods together has been the focus of her work for the Black and White show.
